Tick-Tock-Tick-Tock: OH-18 Appointment on the Clock!

That's right, it is time.  It is November 2nd.  The Ohio Senate Republican Caucus has a decision to make.  A screening  committee consisting of seven Ohio Senate Republicans will make a recommendation to the Caucus.

The actual appointment will probably not happen until after November 8th--the day Issue 2 goes down--Election Day.

Anyhow, we know the leading contenders are State Rep. Ron Young, Taxn' Trustee Chris Galloway, Former State Rep. Jaimie Callender, and the dark horse John Eklund.

The real question is whether State Sen. Tom Patton (former democrat and Galloway client) can whip up the votes for Tax loving Taxn' Trustee Chris Galloway.  Can Patton (former democrat and Galloway client) convince the caucus not pick State Rep. Ron Young?

The question no one will answer is whether or not the caucus cares about Taxn' Trustee Chris Galloway working for both the Ohio Democratic Party and Ohio Republicans at the same time.

...OH-62 and OH-63, Continued.

Last night we promised more commentary about the House races in Lake County, in particular, OH-63.

OH-63 has been a very, very, very, very, very, ..., extremely disappointing race.  Why?  There has been little to no race in OH-63--aside from the many Mark Schneider signs littering Mentor and the other OH-63 municipalities.

Some thoughts.  Mark Schneider is strong campaigner, but a carpet bagging; tax raising; money grubbing lawyer who has taken a lot of campaign money from Cuyahoga County.  Mark Schneider raised income taxes 4.2% for 2009 and 2010, and raised numerous fees by voting for House Bill 1.  Schneider can smile, knock on doors, shake hands, and stick his hand out to unions very well though.

Furthermore, the Ohio House Democrats MUST hold OH-63, MUST! in order to hold the majority. Finally, former State Rep. Ron Young is as conservative as they come--and well known to hate taxes.  Young's hatred of taxes is second to none.

Summary:

Schneider = bad, big democrat machine, big government, tax hikes, fees, all "labored" up, on the union take----and CONNECTED TO CROOKED COUNTY PROSECUTOR BILL MASON.  That's right, Schneider was an assistant Crooked County Prosecutor who has accepted donations for from Mason.

Young = hater of all things tax, strong social conservative, beat squishy Ray Sines, small business owner.

The equation seems right for both House Caucuses to target the race!  However, we don't see any of those menacing TV ads, hear any radio ads, etc.

What gives?

The pulse of things is that Mark Schneider has been given up on by the Ohio House Democrat Caucus.  If things continue to stay the course tax, tax, tax, tax and spend, spend, spend, spend Mark Schneider will have to go to Bob Dicello's office more often and help him with his lame radio show.

We wonder if State Senator soon to be Representative Grendell will be upset that his good friend Mark Schneider will get beaten by Ron Young.  Grendell hates Young.  A Young win will not bode well for Grendell's run House Speaker.

God save us.

Pathetic: Schneider's Campaign Website

November's election is a long way away....

While googling around though the web browser stumbled across Rep. Mark Schneider's pathetic website.  Rep. Schneider is a great campaigner, the guy is everywhere.  But, what's up with his garbage website?

Former Rep. Ron Young is a strong candidate...Rep. Schneider better get serious.

UPDATE: Legislative Committee Finances: A lot of money will be spent in Lake County

The Ohio House Democrat Caucus will spend at least a million dollars in Lake County.

Pretty consistent pattern with the legislative committee fundd; the party in power has a lot more money--about $2 million more!

Short and sweet: The House Democrat Caucus will spend more than a million dollars to defend Rep. Lorraine Fende (D, OH-62) and Rep. Mark Schneider (D, OH-63).

Rep. Ron Young stands a chance at keeping up with Rep. Schneider's fund raising, but it will be tough. Councilman Fiebig, however, will not be able to keep up with Rep. Fende's fundraising. Instead, Councilman Fiebig MUST fight the ground war against Rep. Fende; which, he seems to have started doing.

Campaign Websites: OH-62 and OH-63

A Google search of each announced candidate for OH-62 and OH-63 only turns up Councilman-at-Large Dave Fiebig as having a campaign website.

Click here to see Councilman Fiebig's Website.

Did we miss the campaign website for Mike Zuren, Lorraine Fende, Ron Young, or Mark Schneider?

We know Lorraine Fende is lazy, so we did not expect her to have one up yet.  We expect Ron Young to put one up soon.  But, Mark Schnieder missing one too?

Why announce campaigns but not have websites up?  That's poor planning.

If we missed a site, let us know!

Ohio House Races in Lake County: OH-62 and OH-63 (more minor edits)

First the speculation:  former State Rep. Jamie Callendar WILL run against Rep. "Liberal" Loraine Fende for the OH-62 State House Race.  Former Rep. Callendar has pulled petitions according to staff at Lake County's BOE; confirmed by telephone.  Callender told a source that he "has this one in the bag."

The question is, does Callender have the roughly $100, 000 it will take to beat "liberal" Loraine the entrenched Western Lake County do nothing?

Not yet.

Both candidates have their problems.  First, Liberal Lorraine is  "the accidental politician."  Liberal Lorraine was plucked from her Red Cross job, making coffee at blood drives, and placed on Willowick City Council by her then Willowwick Police Chief Dad.  After ten years of haning out on City Council, Liberal Lorraine, was elected Mayor with no oppostion.  Ten years of taking up space in the Willowwick Mayor's Office gave Liberal Loraine 20 years of elected service in Western Lake County.  To top it off: Liberal Loraine has been "dating" Willoughby Munipcal Court Judge Larry Allen.  Of course, Judge Allen uses the fear his judgeship puts in people's hearts to get his bed fellow re-elected year-after-year.

Callender has his problems as candidate....  Callender and his wife had a nasty split that caused one to walk out on the other...stories of what happened are varied.  The bigger problem is that Callender can not effectively call Liberal Loraine TAX RAISER....Callender voted for tax increases proposed by Bob Taft; in fact, sources tell us he issued a press release calling Taft's budget "courageous."

Bottom line in OH-62:  Callender and Liberal Loraine will extend their personal soap operas to the air waves and run attack adds.  However, Liberal Loraine will pull it out.

Now onto OH-63.

We all know Rep.  Mark Schnieder was elected to a district he moved into just to run for office:  Schnieder is a carpet bagger.  To make matters worse State Sen. Tim Grendell endorsed Mark Schenider, which basically cost Carrol Anne Schindel the race in 2008.  Everyone can see Mark Schnieder is a blow hard and carpet bagger; actually he looks like a used car salesman.

Enter former State Rep. Ron Young.  Ron round served in the Ohio house from 1997 - 2004, until term limits prevented him frmo running again.  Ron Young then ran for Lake County Treasurer; Ron young was defeated badly by Lake County Treasurer John Crocker.  However, this should not hurt Ron Young too badly.  That is of course, becuase he is running against Mark Schiender.

Ron Young has something important going for him:  Mark Schnieder raised your taxes.  Roun Young voted against the Bob Taft tax hike debacle.  Ron Young will HAMMER Schnieder on raising taxes.

Bottom line:  Ron Young will win a close race.  House Minority Leader Bill Batcheleder recruited Ron Young and will see that he gets the money.  Ron Young will win a close race.

Note:  Jamie Callender can not use the tax hike card too much.  Jamie Callender voted for the bob Taft tax hike debacle.  Therefore, he must be careful what he says about Liberal Loraine's tax hiking.
